Car Rider and Walker Procedures

Please note that on the first day of school all parents can walk their child into the building and to their classroom. You must park in a marked spot or next door at Westminster Presbyterian (not within the car rider line, at the apartments, or on the street) in order to walk in.

Please be prepared for slower lines at the start of the school year. The traffic will be slower for the first few days of school and then slow down again when Kindergarten and Preschool join us on August 11th. 

Arrival:

Begins at 7:00 am in the front of the school. No student should be dropped off on our campus before 7:00 am. This is a major safety concern. We do not provide supervision for children before 7:00 am.

All 2nd-5th grade students must be dropped off and picked up at the circular drive on Alice Dr. For safety reasons, parents must not drop off a child on Reynolds Road, at the sidewalk, in the parking lot, or behind the school. PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students may be dropped off at the Miller Road loop between 7:15 and 7:30, but if there are older siblings then they must all use the front loop on Alice Dr. Only parents who need to enter the school building can park in the parking lots in front of the school.

Breakfast is served from 7:00 am to 7:30 am. Get here early if your child needs breakfast. If a child arrives after 7:30 am and needs breakfast, we will obviously allow that child to eat. However, any student that is not physically present inside their homeroom classroom by 7:40 am is considered tardy. If a child needs to eat breakfast, he or she must go there when first entering the building. Students cannot go “check in” to class and then go get breakfast because they will then miss instructional time.

Dismissal:

Begins at 2:10 pm

Flagpole Walkers are not the same as Car Riders. If you wish to pick up your child on foot, then your child is considered a Flagpole Walker, not a Car Rider. You can park at Westminster Presbyterian Church and walk over if needed. If your child is listed as a Flagpole Walker, then they will exit the front of the school in a group around 2:10.

Your child is considered a Car Rider if you drive a vehicle through the correct loop (Miller Rd. for 4K-1st and Alice Dr. for 2nd-5th). When you enter the loop, your child will be called from their classroom (if the proper tag is displayed - these will be given out during orientation or from the front office). No one should park their car on our campus and get out to get their child.

When your child is listed as a car rider and you decide to pick up your child on foot it causes a great deal of confusion. We need to do our best to stay consistent.
