Our school helps all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a positive school environment in which the pursuit of educational excellence prepares students to become responsible, productive citizens by focusing on the whole child while delivering developmentally appropriate learning experiences through the involvement of school, family, and community.
Alice Drive Elementary has obtained STEM Certification from Cognia. Alice Drive Elementary is one of about 18 Elementary Schools in South Carolina to hold this certification and the first in our district. Our school was recognized for embodying the practices and characteristics of a quality, relevant, age-appropriate STEM education, and our continuous efforts toward improvement. To achieve a high level of success daily instruction is provided through reading and writing workshops, hands on math, and guided math with an inquiry approach to learning. An integrated approach to learning through student collaboration and team projects promote an environment which prepares our students for success. We provide sound research based practices to meet the individual needs of our students. The use of science kits, educational field trips, and guest speakers are a few of the resources we use to bring real world experiences to life in our classrooms. This year we added STEM as a related arts class for all of our students. Push-in and pull-out intervention is provided for students when needed and our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports promote and reward students who exhibit positive behavior.
We utilize the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Program, which rewards positive behavior. Students earn and can exchange “BeeTokens” for various items. Our student council gave back to our community through various passion projects for the Red Cross, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Salvation Army, local children’s home and a toy drive for needy families. Our annual music productions, Family Nights, Shower Shaw with Cookies, and entries to the local and state art exhibits enhanced the creativity and other interpersonal skills in our students. Military Parent Deployment Support Group, Red Ribbon Week, and other activities promoted positive behavior choices.
Alice Drive Elementary believes that learning is a lifelong process involving family, school, and community cooperation. Thank you for all of your support in assisting in the education of our future leaders.
