From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to the month of December! It’s hard to believe that we have already completed the 1st quarter of the 2013 – 2014 school year. We want to commend our students for working hard and thank you parents for your dedication and continued support. We’d also like to commend our students on their excellent behavior during Thomas Rhodes’s visit during the Principal for a Day program. He was quite impressed with our school!
A big thank to our PTA Freaky Friday Committee for putting together our annual Freaky Friday that was held on October 17. We had a fantastic time! We greatly appreciate you coming out to participate in the night’s festivities. We want to personally thank the soldiers from Shaw Air Force Base for volunteering and helping make our night a huge success.
Our annual Living Literature Parade held on October 24 was outstanding. Students and staff members dressed up as their favorite storybook characters to demonstrate their love for reading. Thank you parents for helping us make this day successful by creating costumes for your child and emphasizing the importance of reading.
ADE teachers and staff members worked at McDonald’s McTeacher Night on Broad Street on October 24 and raised $369.07! McDonald’s donated 25% of the total sales between 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. that night. The money raised will be used to purchase resources for the classroom.
Please mark your calendar as we have many events in the short month of December:
Santa’s Shop, sponsored by PTA, will be going on the week of December 9 – December 13. This is a great opportunity for students to purchase gifts for family and friends.
Our annual ADE Chorus concert will be held at the PTA meeting on Monday, December 16th at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. Our chorus is also performing at Swan Lake on December 13, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. Look for more information on this in your child’s homework folder.
We appreciate your continued efforts in working with your child and realize that with your continued support, our school will continue to be a school of excellency! As the holidays approach, we hope each of you will have a wonderful time building life-long memories with your family. Enjoy the holidays!
